What Illusionsaregrander loves about this:
I love this because this is the truth about some who take the sayings or techings of the wise ones and hold them aside claiming only they have the "right" interpretation. Often, they are taking allegory as literal truth and so they not only miss the point themsleves, but they prevent others from perhaps coming to a "truer" understanding. Particularly in the past when the majority of people were illiterate and relied upon "officials" to read and interpret for them. It also reminds me of something Copthorne MacDonald (A Pro here) says in his book "Toward Wisdom" on page 6 about "true believers" who mistake literal truth for allegorical truth. (If you have not availed yourself of Copthorne's ebook, "Toward Wisdom" I highly recommend you do. He has generously provided it free of charge to readers on the internet and has links to it on his profile. It is really good!
