How can we perceive the new world with our minds wrapped up so carelessly in the first? This segment of Saint Isaac's ascetical homily is a reminder to me that the present cares of this carnal world are fleeting and lead to nothing, and if our hearts remain bound by nothingness how can we begin to look into that which has any meaning at all?
