When Bill McDonough said this, he was talking specifically about the direction we as humans are heading in our attitudes and practices concerning ecology and the environment, and I wholeheartedly agree. But I just love this quote for what it says about the directions we go in life and our attitudes about change when we finally realize what we are doing is not working.
