What VisionCasting loves about this:
I've been thinking about this lately. I'd like to get some wise input from the wise on Wisdomology. What do you think?

Like I said, I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.  Here is where I’ve ended up: No.  In my view, it’s that simple.   The end can no more justify the means than the means justify the end.  Stick with me here. A &l...

I agree with Vizier. The end justify the means of desire in THAT moment. That moment will always return b/c it is like an addiction. You want you find a way to end the want yet not live with it in acceptance and peace which fully keeps you in control and not the...

I think sometimes they do. If the ends bring needed benefit that would otherwise lost, then yes. Chinese philosophy asks the question "What is good, what is bad?", ie the farmer finds a horse. Is that good? The horse requires food and care that takes away the Fa...

While I agree that is a good example of a situation that is difficult to resolve, there are absolutes of 'good' and 'bad'.  It doesn't take a long read of the daily newspaper to see abject evil unfold in our world...    in fact, ove...

You're right VisionCasting. I should been more explicit. I meant "good" and "bad" in terms of benefit rather than in terms of behavior. There are most certainly evil people in the world.

If you ask me I would say everything in life is scripted and your response is already preordained.

I know its no help. Sorry VisionCasting

I'm curious. What makes you believe everything is preordained and scripted?

I have just read your yesterday's post. You and I do not , (by and large) differ in our views on many things. As you say , death is but a step with more to come. So you know these things. The end of the book. So we have determined as per your post, that...

If this is true, then what purpose does freewill serve? It would be like reading a book where you already know the ending. I think there is no script or preplanned responses for if there were, there would be no epiphanies and no discoveries. We would not be individual sou...

Yes we are all going to die. No, I'm not "innocent." I believe my death is just the next step. The one that frees my soul. Just because we're going to die doesn't mean we're trapped on a linear path. By your reasoning, everyone whose life turns o...

Hi Vizier,  We ARE reading a book to which we already know the end. We are all going to die.

You are an innocent person. I like that.

I suppose anyone could use the end to justify the means, but would they be right to do so?   Let's say I were may mark a certain event as the end of my troubles. I plot out my means that will bear me to that event and decide that the sacrifice is worthy. Fin...

Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few or even one?

Sometimes yes, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or one but there are times one must see to their own needs as no one else will or can. "To thine own self be true." A soldier puts the needs of the many (his countrymen) over the needs of himself...
