My friend was discussing today how without slavery there would be no hip-hop, jazz, blues, Martin Luther King, or any other "black culture" in the United States. I find this a hard pill to swallow-she was basically saying that the ends justified the means

Slavery has never enriched anyones life.  The "black culture" has, Native American's have, Jewish have, the disabled have, but it has never been because they were enslaved.  1+1 will never equal 3.

I am so sorry that you misunderstood my meaning. I do not believe the ends justify the means, not by any stretch of the imagination, nor was I implying it. But there is some truth to the remark, which was actually made by my 10th grade history teacher (he was black)....
